The New York State Department of Labor has created a substantial revision to the entire asbestos control regulation known as Industrial Code Rule 56.  The overall effect will be a higher and broader standard of duty for all parties concerned, especially facility owners and managers.  The new Code Rule reflects New York's intention to substantially increase the rigor of abatement projects and project oversight.  The net effect is a much expanded scope of work for owners and the monitoring firms they hire.

Building Surveys

Conrad Geoscience conducts visual inspections and building surveys for asbestos in accordance with strict professional standards.  Licensed inspectors are trained to identify suspect asbestos containing materials (ACM) that may be present in the building or plant.  Inspections and surveys cover industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and residential properties.  Visual inspections involve a thorough assessment of the area in question and provide advice on handling suspected ACM.  Building surveys involve representative samples of building components that undergo laboratory anaylsis.  Survey and analysis results are summarized in formal report.

Conrad Geoscience offers specially trained monitoring personnel to oversee compliance with all regulations and project plans during asbestos abatement.  Project Monitors document removal activities, work practices, material handling, site security, containment system integrity, and air monitoring results.  Deviations from approved project plans, containment system problems, and unsafe work practices are swiftly brought to the attention of our clients, allowing them to take appropriate action without delay.
